Cross-Mixer XM

Product 14 of 14

The cross mixer can be used, for example, to control X-rudders, V-tail units, twin-screw drives, or chain drives (caterpillars, excavators, or tanks).

Simply plug the mixer into the corresponding receiver channels using two patch cables and plug the two servos (or the attitude control) into the mixer's jack cables, and you're done.

• Connection
The cross mixer has two inputs and two outputs. The servos are connected to the two outputs. If 4 servos are used, Y-cables must be used.
The inputs are connected to the two signal sources that are to be mixed. These can be two channels from the receiver, or a receiver channel and a position controller signal.

• Function
One input is connected to both outputs. The second input is also output directly to one servo and inverted to the other servo.
Different signals can be set at the two inputs; the corresponding sums of the two signals are output at the outputs.
The cross mixer automatically monitors that the outputs do not exceed 100%.
This ensures that the servos are never controlled beyond their end position, preventing damage to the control linkages.
The cross mixer is deliberately kept simple. It has no configuration options.

If, for example, the servos turn in the wrong direction, the servo linkages must be attached differently or the reverse function must be used in the transmitter. If the zero point is not correct, this must be corrected with the trim on the transmitter or by adjusting the servo linkage.

After installation, the maximum deflections should be checked. To do this, control the two channels to their possible end positions:
- up and left
- up and right
- down and left
- down and right

In each of these positions, one servo should be approximately in the center position and the other at maximum deflection.
It is not useful to limit the servo travel on the transmitter, as two signals are added together. Due to the summation, these possible results are actually always above 100%. For this reason, the cross mixer itself limits the maximum servo travel to 100%.
For this reason, increasing the servo travel in the transmitter to 150% does not make sense.
